My Advent Calendar
Every year of my life for as long as I can remember my Mum has bought me an advent calendar for the run-up to Christmas. The earliest ones were of a traditional nativity scene and an illustrated Christmas motif behind each paper door. Life got exciting when we progressed to the chocolate ones, no other time of the year would we have been allowed chocolate in the morning. For the past 3 years though, my Mum has bought me a digital calendar from e-card illustrator Jacquie Lawson. Jacquie Lawson is a British illustrator who has carved a niche in e-cards with her unique combination of traditional illustration styles and digital animation. Her advent calendars come in the form of little snowglobes that sit on your desktop, each day you get to explore a little bit more of the world within. This year the theme is 'Alpine Village'....Each new day reveals a new musical animation and festive activity.
So for those of you after an advent calendar with a difference I would highly recommend purchasing this digital one from Jacquie Lawson, it's nice to know your hard-earned dollars aren't going to Cadbury's but instead to an independent illustrator using modern means to capture a timeless Christmassy feeling. x
