Born in New York in 1934 to West Indian parents, Audre Lorde was a self-described “Black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet” who dedicated her life and her creative work to confronting injustices of racism, sexism, classism and homophobia. Her activism was strongly intersectional and she gave her voice to issues through powerful poetry and prose. She embraced differences within individuals and within communities, advocating that we are interdependent and better for our complexities.
7.3cm x 7.3cm ceramic ornament, printed on both sides. Packaged in a small hessian bag.
Two inspirational quote postcards included.
“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”
“The oppression of women knows no ethnic nor racial boundaries, true, but that does not mean it is identical within those boundaries.”
10% of every Audre Lorde ornament sold will go towards supporting the work of UK Black Pride.
