Book of Deer’s Spring/Summer 13 collection, inspired by the heyday of Summer camps and Girl Guide excursions, evokes memories of Brownie uniforms, secret clubs formed in torch-lit tents and marshmallows burnt on an open fire. This season, Book of Deer’s trademark hand-drawn prints decorate a variety of fabrics. Mason jars of captured fireflies glow-in-the-dark on cotton dresses and crisp tops. Clusters of camping artefacts flutter on trapeze chiffon. Candy-pink tents pitched in a watercolour forest are luminous on soft pieces fit for day or night. Book of Deer’s definitive concoction of fantasy, nature and nostalgia is folded into a palette of milky brights on retro silhouettes . A fun collection of wearable separates and statement dresses, this is Summer camp for nature-loving city girls who’ve made a scout’s promise to ‘Do a good turn daily’ in a pretty dress.
